Gunnar Edler (43) is from 1 July 2009 Customer Service Director of Renault Trucks Germany. He succeeds Michael Opitz, who led the field over the past six years.

Renault has been suspended from the race official of the Hungarian GP for a race. Thus, should his team-mate Fernando Alonso and so far (Nelsinho Piquet was not officially replaced) does not compete in street races in Valencia. The team, however, filed an appeal. The hearing will be held on Monday 17 August in Paris, the verdict is expected on Tuesday after.
