There are few noticeable changes in the 2009 Chevrolet Colorado and new engine. The basic design of this compact truck is similar to that of GMC Canyon. The regular and extended cab body styles are there in work and LT trims. There is a 4 door LT Crew Cab. Regulars and extended have a 6 foot cargo bed while the Crew cabs have a 5 foot bed. All the Colorado have rear wheel drive or part time 4 wheel drive which should not be engaged on dry pavement and has a low range gear for off roading. The standard on models is 185 hp 2.9 liter 4 cylinder engines. In the extended and Crew Cab models it is 300 hp 5.3 liter V8. the four cylinder models comes with a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission while the 5 cylinder and V8 versions use only automatic transmission.
The maximum towing capacity of this truck is 6000 lb. the safety features includes ABS, an antiskid system, and traction control and curtain side airbags. Few optional equipments included are off road suspension,, sunroof and leather upholstery. The work truck models have 16 inch wheels and the LT is available with 16, 17 or 18 inch wheels. LT models have satellite radio installed.
